LAWRENCE --- Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence for Bettie June Cox, 75, Lawrence, who died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at a Lawrence hospital.
She was born May 8, 1926, in Pierce City, Mo., to Foster Garland and Jemmie Minerva Easley Weems. She moved to Pleasanton in Linn County in 1936 and graduated from Pleasanton High School. She lived in Eureka Springs, Ark., nine years before she moved to the Lawrence area in 1951.
She married Herman Wesley Cox Oct. 26, 1947, in Mound City. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, Terry Cox and G.D. Cox, both in Lawrence; sisters, Marge Wilson and Wanda Staton, both in Pleasanton; and two grandchildren.
Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Lawrence. Mrs. Cox will lie in state after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.
