Carroll Attended York Academy in Spencer, Tennessee

Enlisted as a Private on 20 May 1861
Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in North Carolina in 1865
Wounded twice, once in the stomach, later in the upper arm, recovered from both wounds and kept fighting in the Civil War.

Mr. Clark was dean of Burritt College, Spencer, TN in 1890-91, according to the school catalogue

The Lieutenant wrote articles for the Spencer Times Newpaper that was later printed into a Book.

on Google.com, the book is out of print now. (2010)
