Elmer started teaching high school at age 19 as a choral & band director. After several years of study, he received his Masters in Music Education and a Specialist degree in Educational Technology. He started teraching as SIU-Edwardsville, then U of K. He finally received his doctorate in Ed Tech and continued teaching at McNeese U. in Lake Charles, La. Upon retirement, Elmer & his wife Terri moved back to the St. Louis area (St. Charles) to be closer to family. The raised 4 children, had 11 grandchildren & 11 greatgrand children.
