Marcel of Lewiston, passed away peacefully at Central Maine Medical Center with his family by his side after a long battle with emphysema and heart-related issues.
He was born in Lewiston a son to Albert and Eva Ouellette Dumais. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School, Saint Dominic Regional High School, graduating in 1954, and St. Francis College. He married Therese Parent at St. Mary's Church on Aug. 23, 1958.
He served in the Army Reserves with the 401 Engineer Co., attaining the rank of Staff Sgt., and held the post of supply sergeant. He had a love for building, so he founded Dumais Construction along with his brother Lionel. For many years, they built and or remodeled homes and businesses in this area until an accident disabled them both far too early in their early years. He was one of the founders and members of the Pine Tree Warrior Drum and Bugle Corps and Le Passe Temps Social Club. To help in his quality of life he enjoyed the too few years of becoming a snowbird, living in Florida during the cold winter months, and during that time became a member of the Eagles. He was a trustee of the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Educational Foundation, board member of the Franco American Festival for 10 years.
He was a humble and devoted man to both his family and church and enjoyed the game of hockey. During his high school years, he was a goaltender for the Saint Dom's Saints and later in life enjoyed watching the Boston Bruins, Red Sox and New England Patriots.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Thesese; his three sons, Paul M. of Lewiston, Richard R. of Livermore Falls and Raymond L. of Lewiston; sisters, Francoise Poliquin, Irene Berube and Monique Gravel; four grandchildren, Lindsey, Allison, Jenna and Ryan.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother Lionel.
Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU unit at CMMC, with special thanks to Russell and Danielle during his last hours.
