Mrs. Thelma J. Clawson, 79, wife of Ernest Allen Clawson of 1525 Crammer, died Friday at a local hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 1, 1895, at Nevada City, Calif.
Mrs. Clawson was graduated from the University of Nevada Teachers College in 1916 and taught school in Nevad for several years.
She married Ernest A. Clawson at Elko, Nev., in 1920.
Mrs. Clawson lived most of her younger years in Elko, Nev., area until the couple moved to Idaho Falls in 1947.
She was an active member of the Episcopal Church and the Women's Guild, a member of the Nevada Republican Women's organization; and a founder of the Elko Garden Club; and a member of the American Red Cross.
The couple moved to Idaho Falls in 1947 when Mr. Clawson became manager of the Bank of Eastern Idaho.
She continued her community activities as a member of the Red Cross Volunteer Group, Round Table Club, Library Board, Episcopal Church and Women's Guild.
Mrs. Clawson continued her gardening activities.
One of her outstanding but little known community services was her support of an America Indian Mission Group in Montana. She also continued her support of the Christian Childrens Fund.
She gradually withdrew from her community activities and used her remaining years in her hobby, gardening.
Mrs. Clawson is survived by her widower of Idaho Falls; and a daughter, Jean Mary Clawson of Rocklin, Calif.
