AMERICAN FALLS - Robert K. (Bob) Brulotte, 74, of American Falls, passed away on August 31, 2009, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Bob was born on February 17, 1935, in Toppenish, Washington. He was raised in the State of Washington until age 15 when he moved to Jerome, Idaho, where he attended school until he graduated in 1954.
Two days after his graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Buttcane, on May 28, 1954 in Jerome. The two celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year. She was definitely the love of his life.
Bob attended Boise Junior College (class of 1956) and University of Nevada-Reno (class of 1958) earning a bachelor of science degree in secondary education. He was a teacher and a coach at Hawthorne Junior High School in Hawthorne, Nevada, Gill High School in Gill, Colorado, Nampa High School in Nampa, Idaho, Valley High School in Eden/Hazelton, Idaho. He finished his career teaching and coaching for over 23 years at American Falls High School in American Falls, Idaho. While in American Falls, Bob attended Idaho State University and earned a master's of education in athletic administration.
Coach Bob's life was spent around athletes. He coached football, baseball, wrestling, golf, and basketball. He loved being around young adults, helping them achieve their highest potential, watching them grow into adulthood. Coach Bob served in several positions for the Idaho Coaches Association and served as president of the association in 1982-84. In August 1992 he received the Fourth District Distinguished Service Award from the Idaho High School Activities Association (IHSAA). In 1996 he was inducted into the IHSAA Hall of Fame.
Bob believed in community service. He was elected to four years on the American Falls City Council and was active in the American Falls Lions Club where he served as president. He was awarded the "Melvin Jones Fellow Award" for humanitarian services, the highest award given to a Lion.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joan, of American Falls; four half-siblings, Yvonne (Wayne) Seemer, Teresa (Rob) Zeller, George (Joanette), Dan; his four sons, Timothy (Bonnie) of Dandridge, Tennessee, Michael of Irwin, Idaho, Richard (Claudia) of Nampa, Idaho, William of Twin Falls, Idaho. He is the grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of four. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Brulotte of Yakima, Washington, and Frank and Carrie Graham of Nampa, Idaho.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Creekside Hospice and Harms Memorial Hospital as well as all the prayers for Bob helping him down his final journey to the 19th hole.
A celebration of life will be held on September 5, 2009, at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 656 Tyhee Street, American Falls, Idaho. Interment will follow at Falls View Cemetery in American Falls. A viewing will be held Friday, September 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davis Mortuary, 170 Idaho Street, American Falls, Idaho.
