OSWEGO - Mary Bourne Cloninger, 92, of Oswego died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, in the Infinia Nursing Center of Oswego.
She was born Oct. 19, 1911, in Todd County, Ky., to Edward B. and Ambie B. (Camp) Adams. She moved to Kansas in 1926 and graduated from Oswego High School in 1930.
She married Lawrence F. Cloninger on March 9, 1935, in Chanute. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1999.
She was employed by the Oswego Democrat (later the Oswego Independent) as a reporter for 26 years, retiring in 1974.
She and her husband enjoyed camping with a local club and spending winters in Texas and summers in Colorado. She rode motorcycles with her husband until the age of 75. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oswego.
Survivors include a son, Monte Cloninger and his wife, Jean, of Canon City, Colo.; four grandchildren and their spouses, Beth McKee and her husband, Jerry, of Farmington, N.M., Austin Cloninger and his wife, Betty Jo, of Fountain, Colo., Kelli Forbes and her husband, Marc, of Carbondale, and Steve Cloninger and his wife, Christine, of Canon City, Colo.; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorthy Camp of Campbellsville, Ky.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Oswego with the Rev. Gene DeWitt officiating. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
