Roy V. Emerson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a Veteran of WWII, entered eternal life peacefully Friday February 5, 2010. He was 84 years old.
Roy was the Leader of the Emerson Swing Combo, a member of Coopersville Community Concert Band, a member of the National Catholic Band Masters Association Adjudicator for Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association, and the Band Director at Catholic Central High School for 31 years before his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Surviving are Helen, his loving wife of 59 years, six dear children David Roy (Mary Louise) Emerson Sr., Marikay (Mark) Davis, Patricia Emerson, Paul (Laurel) Emerson, Thomas (Kristie) Emerson, Margaret (Rick) Thorstein, 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Mary Emerson of Seattle, WA., Jackie (Bill) Arnold of Ludington, 1 brother Stan Emerson of N. Muskegon, nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Monday February 8, 2010 at Arsulowicz Brothers, Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd, Grand Rapids where a Rosary will be prayed. Additional visitation one hour before Mass on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday February 9 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2230 Lake Michigan Drive NW, Grand Rapids. Interment: Resurrection Cemetery Memorials: Right to Life of Michigan.
