Dr. Kenneth Ward Atwood, Jr. 1922-2004
Kenneth Ward Atwood, Jr. Returned to his heavenly home April 8, 2004. He was born December 21, 1922 in Cedarview, Utah. In 1941 he graduated from Jordan High School where he met his bride, Ruth, whom he married in the SLC temple December 7, 1944.
He had a full and active life. During WWII he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Afterward, he worked for KSL while attending the University of Utah. At he University, he received B.D., M.S., and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering. He also taught and retired as a Professor Emeritus, and worked at the Hanford Plant in Washington. Kenneth Co-authored textbooks that have been translated into several languages. Ken filled his life with experience and enjoyment.
He chased, photographed, and built models of trains. He road trains in South Africa, Colombia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. His hobbies also included camping, fishing, gradening, and movie makeing. Ken was a high priest in the LDS church. Ken was a "good kid."
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Ruth; children, Mary Lou Roberts, Kenneth L. (Alice) Atwood, Judy (Ron) Moore; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Joshua Carter. Ken is also survived by this sisters, Jane Flitton, Donna Flitton, Lawanna Peterson, Olive Poor, Margaret Brough and Nola Falcone. Funeral services Wednesday, April 14, 2 p.m., in the LDS Chapel at 8825 South Monroe Street in Sandy, Where friends may call on Wednesday one hour before the service.
Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.
