Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sun., Oct. 31, for Myrna Malina Carmichael, 92, Howard, who died on Oct. 28, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society in Howard. The services will be held in Belleview Lutheran Church at Howard, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard, and also one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.
Myrna Stokke was born on Feb. 20, 1918, at Balaton, Minn., to Carl and Christine (Anderson) Stokke. Her family then moved to the Howard area, where she attended country school and high school. She married John Donald Carmichael on March 17, 1939, at Garretson. They lived and farmed in the Oldham area all of their adult lives. Her husband died on April 23, 2001.
She was a 4-H leader for many years. She went into the ceramics business and also taught and gave lessons in ceramics.
Survivors include three daughters, Marcella (Dennis) Smith of Longmont, Colo., Christine Halverson of Roswell, N.M., and Susan (Ron) Selken of Sioux Falls; a son, John (Pam) Carmichael of Canistota; a son-in-law: Phil Mathison of Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Margaret Mathison; and three grandchildren.
