In 1860, he was a farmer living with his family in Monroe Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, although he may have lived briefly in Cambria County after that.

Almost a Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Carlisle October 16, 1862, mustered into federal service at Chambersburg November 1 as a private with Co. A, 158th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), but procured a substitute discharged November 20, 1862.

He may have married Martha lnu. and fathered Amanda Frazier (b. 03/22/62). Martha's status is unknown and her existence uncertain, but he married Elizabeth Klein in 1866, fathering Harry M. (b. @1867). Cause of his death is listed as "pneumonia" with "old age" a contributing factor.
