Mr. Samuel Bowersmith passed away at his home near Triplett Sunday morning, May 2, 1909, after an illness of several months. Though he had not been long confined to his bed, Mr. Bowersmith had not been well for a long time, and his friends had realized with sorrow that the end could not be far away.
Samuel Bowersmith was a native of Ohio, and was born in Delaware county, that state, Oct. 5, 1835, making him at the time of his death 73 years, 6 months and 27 days. He was married in his native county in June, 1856, to Miss Mary F. Watson, who preceded him to the grave Feb. 17, 1892. To their union 10 children were born, only three of whom, Frank, of Brunswick; Samuel, of Galesburg, Ill., and Ellsworth, of Dayton, KY., survive him.
He was married a second time May 1st, 1894, to Mrs. Sina B. Stone, who survives him. The one child born to their union died in infancy.
Mr. Bowersmith came to Missouri in 1868, settling on a farm near Triplett, where he spent the remainder of his life. During all of the 41 years he was a citizen of this county, he was known as a man of the highest type of Christian character. He was ever agreeable, courteous and considerate of his fellowmen,and every man was glad to call him his friend. For many years he was a useful and faithful member of the Christian church, and his true Christian character was exemplified in his everyday life. He was a good man.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday by Rev. McCully, of Cameron, Mo., followed by interment at Newcomer cemetery.
