Corallie Teachey, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 8, 2010, surrounded by her family at Parkcliffe Community in Toledo.
The daughter of George and Erah Thoma, she was born April 21, 1926, in Eufaula, AL.
She graduated from High Point College in North Carolina and married her high school sweetheart, James on August 23, 1948.
Corallie taught for over 40 years including 2 years in Sao Paulo, Brazil and the last 20 years in the Sylvania City School system retiring in 1990. She loved to read and shared that passion with others as a first grade teacher and later as a volunteer for the Read for Literacy program.
She enjoyed making porcelain dolls, gardening, and taking long walks, usually around the neighborhood.
Corallie had a beautiful soprano voice and frequently sang as a soloist in her church.
She and her husband were charter members of McCord Road Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James; son, Michael Teachey; daughters, Mindy Teachey, Julie (Jerry) Quinonez, Suzanne Teachey, Patricia Teachey, and grandchildren, Shane, Wes and Carmen Quinonez, Jade, Jason and Christina Teachey.
Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.), where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
