William was the son of Solomon S. and Malinda (Davis) Hobbs. He married Martha Frances Holder on 26 Nov.,1857 in Monroe Co.,Ga. They were the parents of 2 sons and 2 daughters: Mary b. abt 1857; Dolly Angeline b.27 Oct.,1858; Jefferson F. b. 27 Jun.,1860; and William Henry b. 30 Jan.,1862.
William was mustered into the Georgia Infantry on 1 May,1862 and must have been sick by 16 Jul.,1862 and they must have thought he would die so they discharged him on 16 Jul.,1862 and sent him home to die.
Note: I'm not sure his middle name was Henry. His son was William Henry and we figured the he was a Jr.
