Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 17 June 1938
"Announcement of the death of Frank A. Morris, Canfield druggist at 5:40 p.m. last Friday in the North Side unit of the Youngstown hospital, cast a gloom over this community. He had been in the hospital eight days following a heart attack and had suffered from a clot in the heart and one in the lungs, making his condition critical. Mr. Morris was born in Elkrun township, Columbiana county, January 24, 1883, only son of Eben and Jane Morris. His early life was spent on the farm attending district school and Lisbon public schools. After completing his public school education he entered Ohio Northern University at Ada where he graduated with honors as pharmacy. Following graduation he married Miss Jennie Van Fossan of Lisbon, Sept. 5, 1906, the couple beginning housekeeping in Leetonia where he was employed as pharmacist in F. W. Wiedmayer's drug store. From there he went to Youngstown where he continued his work for some time. Learning that the drug store of M.V.B. King in Canfield was for sale because of the owner's illness, he came to Canfield nearly 30 years ago and purchased it. Within a few years his business had outgrown his first location and he purchased the brick building on Broad street, which he has occupied ever since. He lost no time in making important changes, the result being a modernly equipped drug store. His accuracy as a pharmacist was notable and his dependability attracted patronage from a considerable area. He was a member of the Argus Lodge, No. 545, F&AM, its master in 1924, a member of the Presbyterian church, a director of the Farmers Savings & Loan Co., a member of the village board of public affairs, and an active spirit in community affairs. Besides his wife he leaves one son, Robert, a senior in pharmacy and biology in Ohio State University at Columbus. Funeral services held Monday afternoon at the West Main street home were in charge of Rev. L. P. McCulloch and largely attended, all business houses being closed during the obsequies. An abundance of flowers was silent testimony to the high esteem in which the deceased was held by a wide circle of friends. Burial was in Canfield village cemetery."
