Louisa Gough was born in England to Samuel and Elizabeth (Warrilow) Gough. The England 1881 census shows the family living in Bolas Magna, Shropshire, the hamlet of Meeson, England. Louisa's siblings living with the family were Annie(b.~1877), and Alice (b.~1878).
Louisa's mother, Elizabeth, and her sisters Annie and Alice arrived in Quebec on the ship "Lake Manitoba" July 18, 1883. They had departed from Liverpool, England. A man named Samuel Gough had arrived earlier in Quebec July 4, 1882 on the ship "Somerset" from Bristol, England. It is thought this may have been Louisa's father arriving ahead of the rest of the family.
Louisa, her parents, and her siblings, Alice and Frederick immigrated to the USA in 1887 probably from Canada (Frederick was born in Canada) according to the 1900 US census.
The 1900 US census shows that Louisa was living with her family in Lawrence City, MA. Her siblings living in the household were Alice (b. April 1878), Frederick G. (b. April 1883), John (b. June 1887), William E. (b.Oct 1889), Austin A. (b. Oct 1891), and Westley H. (b. July 1898). Annie had married William Fitzgerald in 1896 (Lawrence, MA) and did not live with the family at this time.
Louisa married Ralph Sydney Brown September 25, 1901 in Lawrence, MA and the 1910 census shows Louisa was living with her husband in West Springfield, MA. They had two children, Grace L. (b. 1 July 1903) and Warren O. (b. 10 July 1904).
The 1920 US census shows Ralph & Louisa living in West Springfield Town, MA with their son, Warren, and their daughter, Grace. Both children are listed as being born in Connecticut.
In 1930 the family continued to live in West Springfield, MA. The only child listed is Ralph S. Brown Jr.(b.16 February 1920 in MA).
Louisa and her family were still living in West Springfield Town, MA in the 1940 US census. There are two sons listed, Warren Brown (born in NY instead of Connecticut) and Ralph.
