BURGAW - Mr. Lacy M. Bell Jr., age 72, of 516 Hwy. 53 E., Burgaw, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at home.
Mr. Bell was born July 4, 1931, in Pender County, son of the late Lacy and George Lucas Bell Sr. He served honorably in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Burgaw King Soloman AM & FM 138 Masonic Lodge and the Pender County Shrine Club. Mr. Bell was on the board of directors of the Black River Health Services. He was a member of the Burgaw Hunting Club and the Lucas Creek Hunting Club. He was associated with Pender Gas and Oil for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Jurs Bell of the home; two children, Mary Kay Williams and husband Jeffrey of Topsail Beach and Lacy Moore "Trip" Bell III and wife Connie of Currie; four grandchildren, Ashley Bell, Nealie Williams, Jeffrey Williams II and Johanna Bell; and two great-grandchildren, Malya and Alyssa; and one sister, Barbara B. Aultman of Greer, SC.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at the Burgaw Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Doctor Ray Mendenhall officiating. A private family inurnment will follow in the Burgaw Cemetery.
The family received friends last evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at Harrell's Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Burgaw Presbyterian Church, PO Box 565, Burgaw, NC 28425 or the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1406 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
