The 1900 Federal Census for McComb, Mississippi (Pike County) shows George Dees, a day laborer, age 16, born December 1883; living with his father, William, a furniture salesman, age 50, born February 1858 in Mississippi; and his mother, Mary, age 40, born February 1860 in Mississippi. Also living in the household were Edgar's siblings: Henry, age 21, born January 1879; Estelle, age 19, born October 1880; Walter, age 14, born June 1885; Edgard Dees, age 12, born September 1887 in Mississippi; Oscar, age 7, born February 1893; Fannie, age 5, born March 1895; and Kate, age 2, born November 1897; all born in Mississippi.

George married Hilda in about 1907. The 1910 Federal Census for Durant Ward 3, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows George A. Dees, a railroad car inspector, age 26, born in Mississippi; and his wife Hilda, age 24, born in Mississippi. Living with them was one son, Jesse R., age 1, born in Oklahoma. George and his family are living just a few doors down from his parents and his younger siblings.

Living with them were four children: Jesse, age 11; Carl, age 7; Wayne, age 5; and Clifford, age 1 years 10 months; all born in Oklahoma.
