MORE IS LEARNED CONCERNING DEATH OF PAUL BROWN

Additional details concerning the death of Cpl. Paul Brown, Valliant, who died May 4 at Fresno, Calif., have been learned by his father, Sam L. Brown, formerly of Valliant and now of Orange, Tex.

A letter from Col. John O'Neal, commanding officer of Hammer Field, Fresno, Calif., stated that Cpl. Brown was on a B-26 which made a normal takeoff on the afternoon of May 4. Soon after the pilot called the control tower stating that trouble had developed in the left engine and he was coming around an emergency landing. The plane had not gained sufficient altitude for any loss of power, and it struck the ground 10 miles north of Fresno, Calif., burning and instantly killing the six aboard.

"Let me express the hope that you will receive some consolation and comfort from the knowledge of the fact that your son died while in the service of his country, and his actions reflect the highest credit and honor upon both himself and the army air forces," Col. O'Neal said.

A graduate of Wright City high school, Cpl Brown attended Wilburton A. and M. college and Fresno, Calif., state college. He was a plane mechanic and had been in service since 1941.
