Retired Army Staff Sgt. John A. Boronkas, 74, Port Charlotte, died June 8, 2004. He was born March 20, 1930, in Paterson, N.J., and came to the Charlotte County area 12 years ago from Brick Town, N.J. He was a career serviceman and a veteran of the Vietnam War, retiring from military service in 1972. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5698 and Elks Lodge 2151, both of Brick Town, N.J., and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Charlotte Harbor.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy L.; a son, John C. of Brick Town, N.J.; a daughter, Sharon R. McKenzie of Boca Grande; a brother, William of New Jersey; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Charlotte Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charlotte Harbor, followed by burial with military honors by the Army at Charlotte Harbor Cemetery.
