A lifelong resident of Greene County, she was born August 24, 1894, in Wayne Township and was a daughter of the late John L. and Amelia Yeager Shultz. She was married March 30, 1918, to Edward R. Chapman, who survives, and most of her married life was spent in the Waynesburg community. Mrs. Chapman was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lady Greene Rebekah Lodge, and the American Legion Auxiliary of James Farrell Post No. 330.
Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Victor Chpaman, at home, and William Chapman, with the U. S. Army in Italy. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. John (Emma) Lightner, of Waynesburg; Mrs. Moss G. (Mary) Gump, of Amity; Jesse L. Shultz, of Waynesburg, R. D. 3; Mrs. Jesse B. (Annette) Kinnan, of Cameron, W. Va.; Mrs. Gordon B. (Oscie) Wood, of Waynesburg, and Roy O. Shultz, of Waynesburg. Two sisters are deceased.
