Cecil Marion Davis was born on November 17, 1922 at Mederville, Iowa. He was adopted at the age of 4 years by his grandparents, Reid & Myrtle (Carnicle) Davis. He was raised in the Methodist faith and graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1941. Cecil then moved to Hazleton where he ran a produce store for 11 years. He then entered the sales field in Oelwein, working for Singer Sewing Machine Co. for 6 years, Sears & Roebuck for 7 years and then at Interstate Power Company. In 1973 Cecil fell victim to cancer. He had massive surgery and massive doses of radiation. He survived his cancer for over 35 years although he was given just a 10% chance of survival when he was diagnosed. Cecil was forced into an early retirement but he still did a lot of yard work and delivered newspapers. He enjoyed hunting, trapping and bowling.
Cecil is survived by his Son: Larry (Shirley) Davis of Oelwein; Daughter: Betty (Ray) Whittle of Longview, Washington; Several Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren and a Special Friend: Wilda Scott of Oelwein.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents.
