MEDWAY - Juanita Winona (McLaughlin) Elkins, 76, wife of Burns Elkins Jr., went home to be with the Lord, Jan 11, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 13, 1933, in Medway, the daughter of Merle and Clotell (Caswell) McLaughlin. Juanita was a Sunday school teacher for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Burns; she is survived by four children, Mike Elkins and Jane of East Millinocket, Wanda Gardner and Tom of Winterport, Scott Elkins and Elizabeth of Prospect, and Brent Elkins and Gail of Medway; six grandchildren, Anthony, Sarah, Rachel, Jennifer, Chris and Melissa; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Keith; two sisters, Olive and Vivian; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lisa; 11 brothers and three sisters. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Mattawamkeag Church of God where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Mark York officiating. Spring interment will be at Grindstone Road Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News 1/13/2009)
