Mary Carolyn Hurst Calvert, 72, of Muscle Shoals, died Monday, December 26, 2011. Her visitation will be Wednesday, December 28th from 10 am until 12 noon at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Kenneth Davis and Howell Bigham officiating. Burial will follow in Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Calvert was a lifelong resident of the Shoals. She was a member of Wood Avenue Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Sheffield High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carroll "Jack" Calvert, Sr.
She is survived by her son, John C. Calvert, Jr. and wife Kanda of Florence; daughter, Jackie Bigham and husband Howell of Killen; brother, Donald O. Hurst and wife Peggy of Tuscumbia; three grandchildren, Jonathan Howell Bigham, Hannah Caroline Bigham and John David Zachary Calvert and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Box, Shannon Bridges, John Hatton, James Senn, James South, and Miles Stutts.
The family expresses special thanks to everyone who had a part in caring for Mrs. Calvert.
