Frank Hutmacher was also known as Frank Huthmacher. He immigrated to the U.S. with his parents in 1882. They settled on a farm in Granville Township, Platte County, Nebraska. Frank attended St. Bernard Catholic school in St. Bernard, Nebraska. When he reached adulthood, he rented land and farmed for five years. He then moved to Humphrey and milled flour. He traded his mill for land in South Dakota and then traded that land for land in Platte County, Nebraska and real estate in Humphrey, Nebraska. In June of 1909, he purchased the electric light plant in Humphrey. In 1899, Frank married Miss Katie Brandt. Frank was a member of the Catholic church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and Modern Woodmen of America.
