MRS. VELMA BRODT, 69, DIES FRIDAY AT METHODIST HOSPITAL IN LOUISVILLE

Mrs. Velma Brodt, 69, of Scottsburg died at 6:35 a.m. Friday morning in Methodist Hospital, Louisville.

She was born in Jeffersonville, the daughter of Noble M. and Ethel James Dismore. She lived in Scottsburg most of her life.

Mrs. Brodt was the widow of Fred A. Brodt who died in 1942. She and her husband established the Shady Nook Restaurant and Motel in 1930. She continued to operate the business after the death of her husband.

Mrs. Brodt was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church.

Active in social affairs most of her adult life, she was past president of Scott County Business and Professional Women, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, and past president of the Scottsburg PTA. She was past Worthy Matron of Scottsburg Chapter 107, Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Scott County Historical Society and Widows of World War I.

Survivors include two sons, Fred O. Brodt, Scottsburg and Robert L. Brodt, Louisville; one brother, William Elvin Dismore, Indianapolis, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Stewart's Funeral Home. The Rev. Elmer Bosworth officiated. Burial was in Scottsburg Cemetery.

Memorial services for Mrs. Brodt were held Sunday evening by the Order of Eastern Star at the funeral home.
