Luella Nettie (Boehmer) Allen, 91, of Pawnee City passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She was born on April 23, 1921 to Carl W. Boehmer and Anna Lizzie Heuppelsheuer on a farm near DuBois, Nebraska. She was baptized at the Friedens Evangelical and reformed church near Bern, Kansas.

Luella attended the Athens, rural country school and graduated from Humboldt High School. She later went to Omaha, Nebraska to attend Secretary Business 'School.

Luella met and later married her lifelong partner and best friend, William Walter Allen on May 31, 1939 in Sidney, Iowa. There were no children born to this marriage.

They moved to Mt. Shasta, California where they both worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad until Walter retired due to poor health after 30 years. After Luella retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad, she and Walter moved to Wendel, California (Railroad retirement community). Luella continued to work for the Susanville, California Board of Equalization office for the next eight years. She retired as a state employee to care for Walter until his passing in September 1981. Luella and Walter both were very active with the Masonic Lodge organizations. Luella was a long standing member of the Rebecca Lodge.

Luella moved back to her roots to be closer to family in July of 1988. She resided in her own home until September of 2010 and moved into the Pawnee Manor due to declining health. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Pawnee City, Nebraska.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anna Boehmer, husband William Walter Allen, brothers, Laverne, Lyle and Carl Boehmer, sister-in-laws, Vonney Boehmer, and Jennie Boehmer, nephew Alan Boehmer.

Funeral service was Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Faith Baptist Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Officiating Rev. Duane Westing.

Cremation following services and inurnment at a later date at Mount Shasta Cemetery, Mt. Shasta, California.
