Arthur was born on Thanksgiving and presented, to the delight of his sisters, on a large gold band turkey platter, a screaming and kicking red baby.
Arthur, unfortunately lost his hearing at the age of 4, from Scarlet Fever, but this did not stop him from living a full life.
He graduated from the Hartford, Ct. School for the deaf.
He worked as a spindle steel straightener for over 40 yrs. at Whitin Machine Works. He was also a skilled carpenter
He served as president of the National Fraternal Society for the Deaf of New England for several years.
He was chosen as a delegate
and traveled to the
conventions in various states, throughout the country.
He was also president of the National Catholic Deaf Fraternal Society of New England, for several years.
Arthur was very active in sports, and was a promoter of baseball and basketball teams, known as the Semi Pro Clark's Independents for several years, retireing at the age of 70.
