Celia was born on November 29, 1791 in Davidson, Tennessee, the daughter of Henry Benjamin Barnes and Rhoda Estes.

Celia Barnes married David Pinkerton on April 6, 1811 in Davidson County, Tennessee. They emigrated from Tennessee to Greene County in 1823, when her husband David Pinkerton returned from fighting in the Battle of New Orleans. The couple lived between Macoupin and Apple Creeks, Greene, Illinois. They had twelve children (Henry, James, Wiley, John, David, Rhoda, Andrew, Luther, Mary Jane, Willis, Pelina, and Elizabeth).

Celia died on April 6, 1863 in Berdan, Illinois and was buried on the farm between Macoupin and Apple Creeks, Greene County, Illinois in the Pinkerton Cemetery. Contributor: Julie Pinkerton Wallace # 48774071.
