Jane Elizabeth Engen Mays, 69, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

She was born June 17, 1936 in Harper, Washington to Ingvald and Alma Nelson Engen. Jane was raised in Everett, Washington and graduated from Everett High School in 1954.
On November 17, 1955 she married Jack Warren Mays in Blackfoot, Idaho. They made their home in the Little Lost Valley where they raised their three daughters. For many years Jane worked as a secretary for the Blaine County Canal Company and the Meredith Sod Farm. She also worked at the INEL as an administrative assistant from the early 1960s until her retirement in 2001.

Jane was an active member of the Little Lost River Bible Church. She also served on the Lost Rivers Senior Citizens Board for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, golfing, gardening and watching any type of sports, especially her favorite team, the Seattle Seahawks.

Surviving is her husband of fifty years, Jack Mays, Howe, ID; three daughters, Kim (Randy) Gamett, Moore, ID, Terry (Jim) Williams, Arco, ID and Debbie Mays (Gerald Spencer), Idaho Falls, ID; a brother, Ivar Engen, Idaho Falls, ID; four grandchildren, Randy Jack Gamett, (Nicole Mitchell), Drew (Alexis) Gamett, Josh Mays (Krista Kimball) and Tekkla Jane Williams; four great grandchildren, Radley, Landen, Logan and Talon Gamett. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great granddaughter, Sydney Kim Gamett.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Little Lost River Bible Church with Pastor Tom Bailey officiating. The family received friends for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment was in the Howe Cemetery under the direction of the Hawker Lost River Funeral Chapel in Arco. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Little Lost River Bible Church or the Lost Rivers Senior Citizens Center.
