Mrs. Cynthia Mary Bazar, 94, died at 4 a.m. Sunday morning, January 11, at her home on the Atlanta Road.

Grandmother Bazar, as she was known, had been in poor health for sometime. She was Winn Parish's oldest citizen at the time of her death, and had many friends throughout Winn and Grant Parish. She was a member of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church. Born on October 16, 1858, Grandmother Bazar had lived her entire life in Winn Parish.

Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. H. J. Mott officiating. Interment was in the Sardis Cemetery with funeral directions under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Grandmother Bazar is survived by four daughters, Miss Reba [sic Seba] Bazar, Winnfield, Mrs. Laura Lashley and Mrs. Lola Lashley, Verda, Mrs. Bell King, Monroe, and two sons, Watson and Ellis Bazar of Winnfield. Three sisters, Miss Mattie and Casie King of Robeline, and Mrs. Kizzie Box. Two brothers, J. L. Durham, Atlanta, and A. C. Durham, of Santa Rosa, California.

Pallbearers were Julius Shelton, Bill Evans, Iley Taylor, Dennison Evans, Clarence Shelton, and Dewitt Collins.
