He was a son David Bluford Burnett who died May 3rd, 1863 at Chancellorsville, Va. in the Civil War and Exoney Lucinda Nolen

Charlie M. Burnett, a prominent citizen of Franklin County, who lived near Ferrum, died in Jefferson Hospital in Roanoke, with a complication of diseases, was buried today in the family cemetery near the home place.
Mr. Burnett was a prosperous farmer, and merchant, with a host of friends.
He was a member of Primitive Baptist church, near Ferrum. His wife preceded him about a year ago.
He is survived by three children: Mrs. Micholson Prillaman, and two sons - Messrs. Luther and John Burnett of the county.
