CARL FILMER ALMARODE
Sandston -- Carl Filmer Almarode, 73, of Sandston, died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) at Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville. He was born July 28, 1929, in Waynesboro, the son of the late George Raymond and Maggie Darnell Almarode. Mr. Almarode was a member of Oak Hall Baptist Church of Standston and retired from Southern Department Stores. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Almarode; and a sister, Ola Bowles.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Nixon Almarode of Sandston; one daughter, Velma D. McDonnell and husband, Kevin, of Reston; two sons, Carl Bruce Almarode and wife, Marie, of Amelia; and Lawrence Nixon Almarode of Sandston; a brother, George William Almarode of Grottos; a sister, Ida Showker of Staunton; a brother, Nelson Robinson of Annadale; and four grandchildren, Robert Jennifer Studduth, Michael Studduth and Carl Bruce Almarode.
A service will be conducted at Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Highway in Mechanicsville. Internment will be conducted in Unionville Christian Church cemetery in Orange County by the Rev. H. John Johnson.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4249 Park Place Court 5, Glen Allen, Va 23060.
