J. Laverne Batta, 87, of West Lafayette, died at 8:36 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at Clarian Arnett Hospital.
She was born May 30, 1922 in Elizabethtown, Ky. to the late John R. and Bessie Lee Klinglesmith Fox. On Jan. 18, 1945, she married Gerald Asher Batta in Lafayette, and he died on Nov. 29, 1977.
Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Delaplane (husband: Bruce) of West Lafayette; three sons, David A. Batta (wife: Colleen) and Philip D. Batta (wife: Connie), both of West Lafayette, and Terry M. Batta (wife: Bette) of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Elizabeth Ewing and Edith Brown and a grandchild, Terry Michael Batta Jr.
