Mrs. Grace M. Akers, 79, mother of Mrs. Marietta Atwell of Anderson, died at the Indiana State Soldiers Home at Lafayette after a long illness. She was the widow of John Thomas Akers.
A native of Marion, she was born Sept. 21, 1886, to Mr. and Mrs. James Parsons, and attended Academy at Fairmount. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Surviving besides the daughter here are another daughter, Mrs. Beatrix Taylor of New Castle, seven grandchildren and 14 great-gradnchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Soldiers Home Chapel by the Rev. Grey Russell. Burial will be in the Soldiers Home Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Soller-Baker Funeral Home in Lafayette from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The body will lie in state at the Soldiers Home Chapel an hour before the service.
