Robert P. Benefield, 80, died early Monday in Salem, Illinois, following a long illness. He had been staying in that city with a son. He was the father of R. P. Benefield, Jr., 3115 North Muskingum. Benefield was a retired Terrell, Texas police officer and had been a longtime resident of that city. He lived in Odessa from 1959 to 1960. Services will be Thursday in the Terrell First Christian Church, with burial to be in a Terrell cemetery directed by Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home. Survivors also include four grandchildren, all of Odessa.
