Hattie was born in Helena in 1882, the daughter of George W. and Annie (Gurne) Gibbs. On June 11, 1902 at Helena, Montana, she married Arthur P. Yaeger, the son of Henry C. and Philomina (Benda) Yaeger.

On July 15, 1907, Hattie died from asthma. She was buried in the old St. Mary's Cemetery. On September 5, 1910, her remains were moved to Resurrection Cemetery.

Her tombstone in Resurrection is inscribed with her date of death as July 10, 1903. The chronological records of the Record of Interments of Sacred Hearts Church clearly state that she died on July 15, 1907. The tombstone apparently was inscribed with the wrong date.
