MADISON/DEERFIELD - Howard S. DeGolier, age 87, passed away very peacefully at home on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003. He was born on March 13, 1915, the son of the late Stanley and Minnie (Seekins) DeGolier. After graduating from Deerfield High School in 1933, he worked for the Deerfield Creamery. On March 11, 1938, Howard married his high school sweetheart, Anne Wedvick. Howard, together with Einar Borrud, formed DeGolier and Borrud Milk Hauling Co., where he worked for more than 45 years until retiring. After retirement, Howard continued to work part time for 20 years at DeGolier Printing. He volunteered for Meals On Wheels for three years. He was a member of the Buckeye Evangelical Free Church. Howard had a variety of interests which included playing cards with friends and traveling. But his true passion was for bowling. The times he cherished most were the many family gatherings and playing Santa for his great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Anne, survivors include his children, Curtis (Nancy) of Sun Prairie, Annette Hayes of Madison, Carol (David) Dvorak of Stoughton, and Janet (Steve) Johnson of DeForest; 11 grandchildren, Scott (Jean) DeGolier, Stephanie (Tom) Schulze, Sterling (Robin) DeGolier, Greg (Lee) Schneider, Gary (Michelle) Schneider, Sarrisa Beske, Pedar Hayes, Ronda (Steve) Erickson, Jill (Troy) Coffey, and Erek and Curt Johnson; 18 great-grandchildren, Daniell, Nicole, Britani, Brianna, Meredith, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Bailey, Cody, Kami, Trey, Olivia, Ashley, Austin, Cole, Kyle, Tyler and Kailee; his brother, Donald (Vi); his sister, Marge (William) Peters; and two sisters-in-law, Seborg (Emmett) Gunderson and Bernice Wedvick. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Emmett; brother-in-law, Jack Wedvick; and sister-in-law, Frances DeGolier. Funeral services will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive (corner of Sprecher Road and Dominion Drive), Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, with the Rev. Calvin Steiner presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
