Bertha Cowin, 85, died at 7:25am Sunday at the Golden Rule Nursing Home where she had resided since 1969. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. Cowin, who died in 1968, one son and one daughter.
A native of Shelby County, she lived in Cambridge City most of her life before coming to Richmond. She was a member of the Church of the Bible Covenant in Milton.
Survivors include six daughters; Aletha Holmes of Delano, California; Freda Flannery of Straughn; Roberta Rummel of Connersville; Lorraine Howe of Lewisville; Martha Hancock of Columbus Ohio; and Sue Carol Brewer of Houston, Texas. Three sons: Renos E Cowin of Detroit, Michigan; William J Cowin of Cambridge City; and Robert D Cowin of Dublin. Two sisters, Orpha Hammond and Geneive Turner of Waldron; 55 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Cowin will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Marshall Funeral Home in Dublin with the Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.
Friends may call after 3p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A devout Christian woman, she was an inspiration to all who knew her. She went to meet Jesus with a promise from Him that all of her children would join her around the throne.
