Joseph Elmer Bayless, 74, RR 2, died Tuesday night at Ball Hospital. Mr. Bayless came to Muncie in 1929 from Knoxville, Tenn., where he had worked for the Southern Railroad. In Muncie he was employed at Warner Gear 10 years and Chevrolet-Muncie for 12 years.

Surviving are two sons, Lt. Calvin D., with the U.S. Navy at Bay City, Mich., and Roger S., Muncie; a daughter, Mrs. Jeanne E. Poling, RR 2; nine grandchildren; a brother, Wyatt Bayless, Knoxville, and a sister, Mrs. Allie Michael, Pensacola, Florida.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Parson Mortuary with Rev. Willis B. Gierhan, pastor of Gethsemane Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Callers will be received at the mortuary after 1 p.m. Thursday.
