Eris Manning Morris was born on August 4, 1912, to James Eugene Morris and his wife Martha Frances Forgerson. She was born in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. Her father died three years after Eris's birth, so she was reared primarily by her mother and older siblings, several of whom became teachers.
Eris herself decided to become a teacher. She received her teaching degree from what is now Texas State University in San Marcos, Hays County. After graduation she taught school in nearby Kyle, Texas. It was in Hays County that she fell in love with Raymon Andrew Wimberley whose family had lived in Hays County since 1874.
Eris and Raymon had one child, a daughter whom they loved dearly. However, their marriage became troubled. The couple divorced. Although Raymon remarried, Eris did not marry again. She continued teaching and retired after 32 years.
Eris died on March 24, 1993, in Lockhart, Caldwell County, Texas, where her daughter and her daughter's family lived. She was buried in the Woodmen Cemetery in Seymour where her parents and several of her siblings were already buried.
