Glen Leonard Moon, 88, husband, father and grandfather (Pop) passed away quietly and peacefully on December 31, 2012.
He was born on July 17, 1924 in Farmington, Utah to Earl and Alfie Moon. Glen attended Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah where he met the love of his life, Geraldine Austin. They were married on August 3, 1941 and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Glen and Gerry enjoyed 67 years of marriage. They have three sons, Jerry (Judy), Randy (Debra), and Kent (Tracy).
Glen served in the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 as a Pharmacist's assistant and medic, in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Glen worked for Acme Visible Records, Inc. for 23 years. He retired as the Regional Sales Manager for Acme in Salt Lake City in 1986.
Glen loved his beautiful wife Gerry, and all of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He looked forward to the many family visits that usually filled each and every weekend. His yard was always manicured with the greenest lawn and the most amazing array of vegetables that he prodigiously produced each year from his backyard garden. He was a quiet man that loved the earth and the earth loved him. His repertoire of one line humor was classic which he will always be remembered for, by those who knew and loved him.
Glen was a proud Norwegian, with his mother having arrived from Bergen, Norway in 1915. Christmas's were always a major Norwegian celebration in the Moon home with plenty of lutefisk (lye fish - fish with a very strong flavor) and jotebakkels (a Norwegian donut). The men of the family always insisting that there was never enough "cardamom" in the jotebakkels and there was always excessive quantities of the "stinky" lutefisk.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Gerry who died on January 13, 2009. Glen's parents and his one brother (Lloyd) also preceded him in death as well as two grandchildren, Jason and Michelle. Glen is survived by his three sons, nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
