February 10th, 1863, she was joined in holy matrimony with George Butts. Seven children were born to them, one of whom died in infancy.
She fell asleep in Jesus on Thursday, Feb. 4th, 1909, after an illness of eleven weeks, at the age of seventy-two years, four months and fifteen days. She leaves four sons and two daughters; Milton and Minnie (Mrs. J. F. Miller) reside in Naperville, Walter, Fred, John and Emma are at home, also five grandchildren and two sisters, Miss Steininger and Mrs. Bollensen, and many relatives and friends.
Forty-three years ago she was converted to God. She was a true wife, a loving mother, a true friend and a loyal member of Salem Church, and was faithful in the discharge of all her duties.
She will be greatly missed in her home. May God's gracious spirit comfort the sorrowing hearts and grant them all a blessed reunion in Heaven.
The funeral services were held from the Salem Church Sunday, Feb. 7th. A large concourse of relatives and friends filled the church to pay the last tribute of respect to a worthy woman.
The services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. A. Fuessle, who preached in German, after which Rev. John Divan spoke in English. Her remains were laid away in Naperville Cemetery at the side of her husband to await the resurrection morning.
