Thelma Jean Gallagher was born in Chicago, Illinois June 24, 1922. At the age of seven she came to Des Moines, Iowa with her mother and two sisters and had lived there until the time of her death.
When she reached the age of 14 she united with the Church of the Brethren where she was faithful in attendance, especially in her Sunday school class, as long as her health permitted.
She was a student of the East High school and would have been graduated in June if she had been permitted to continue her studies.
She was very devoted to her mother and known for her consideration of others. She hoped and prayed earnestly that she would get well, but after three months of illness she quietly passed from this life early in the morning of thursday, February 22, 1940.
Her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Gallager, two sisters, Mrs. Iris McClay of Los Angeles, California and Ann Elizabeth of Des Moines besides a large number of other relatives and friends mourn her departure.
"Not dead -- just gone along
To join in that victorious song
Ne'er to know earth's tears again
Saved by the Lamb for sinners slain."
