Artist. Modernism. Oliver Chaffee first came to Provincetown to study with Charles Hawthorne in 1906. After studying with Hawthorne he moved to Paris until he was forced by the outbreak of World War I to return to Provincetown. He was one of the founders of the Provincetown Art Association. He and his wife, Ada Gilmore, returned to Provincetown in 1928 to live and work for the rest of their lives.
