Opal was the daughter of E.R. "Bud" and Jessie Stratton Daniel and the wife of Hubert Teasley Adams, Opal was born and raised in Elberton, Georgia. She and Hubert, her husband of 55 years move to Atlanta in the early forties. She worked for 37 years at Rich's department store, and later they moved back to Elbert on upon retirement.
Opal and Hubert were the parents of three children, James Daniel, Mary Elenor, and Iris Elaine, all of whom died in infancy. Because of her strong faith in God; first developed in the Harmony Baptist Church she attended with her parents, she and Hubert were able to survive the death of her three babies. That strong faith continued throughout her life. She was a faithful member of the Lakewood Methodist Church in Atlanta and later First Methodist Church of Elberton, Georgia. While she had no children grow to adulthood, she cherished her brothers and sisters and their children and helped each of them throughout her life.
She is predeceased by her brothers Everett and Cecil.
The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton, Georgia on Monday, July 13 from 6-8 PM, and the services will be held at Berry Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 14 at 11 AM. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery, Elberton, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, Georgia 30291 or the United Methodist Children's Home, 500 South Columbia Drive, Decatur, Georgia 30030.
