Virginia Nell was married prior to marrying Charles Johnson. She was the wife of Juel Vernon Ayers with whom she had two daughters, Vernell (Mrs. Ray) Langford and Virginia and two sons:Richared F. (Fred) Ayers and Juel Vernon Jr. (Jay)Ayers. All lived in Jacksonville at one time. although there is a divorce on record at the Duval County courthouse for she and Charlie Johnson, they lived together until his death. I was never aware of the divorce and only have my suspicions as to why this was done. To my knowledge, they got along wonderfully. He is my father.
