Obituary, Waynesburg Republican, June 14, 1917:
George E. Baily, a well known and highly respected citizen, died at his home, near Carmichaels, Sunday morning, June 10. He was only ill about 24 hours, and his death, which was due to meningitis, came as a great shock to his family and friends.
Mr. Baily was a son of Ellis B. and Harriet Gaddis Baily and was born in Cumberland Township, where he had spent his entire life. He had engaged in farming and stock raising and was quite successful. Mr. Baily was a member of the New Providence Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Carmichaels Grange and of the I.O.O.F Lodge.
He was twice married, his first wife being, Miss Margaret Lynch, and after her death he was united in marriage with Miss Jennie Minerd, who survives with the following children: Alma, John G., Robert M. , Paul, Harriet and Grace, all at home. Three brothers and one sister also survives, Edgar G. Baily, Eli G. Baily, R. D. Baily and Mrs. George E. Luse, all of Cumberland Township.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by the Rev. E. D. Bevier. The services at the grave were in charge of the I.O.O.F. Lodge. Interment was made in the Laurel Point Cemetery.
