Nora Hall Brown

Mrs. Nora Hall Brown, 90, widow of Walter Arthur Brown Sr., of 112 Hillcrest Drive, Union, died Tuesday at 8:20 a.m. at Oakmont Nursing Center after an illness of six months.

Mrs. Brown was born in Madison County, N.C., on Aug. 21 1891, a daughter of the late Henry and Marie Hall. Mrs. Brown was the oldest member of Westside Baptist Church.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Edna) Stevens and Mrs. Homer (Beatrice) Moss, both of Union: four sons; Walter Brown of Pickens, Troy Brown and Walker Brown of Anderson and Edgar Lee Brown of Clinton; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church by the Rev. Bobby Crocker. Interment will be at Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Randolph Whitehead, Furman Henderson, James Valentine, S.T. Phillips, Willie Pruitt, and Loren Westbrook.

The following are asked to assemble at the church Thursday at 2:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Roy Lawson, Virgil Morris, Lemmie Harris, Harold Lawson, Clarence Crocker, James Cheek, Sam Parks, Eugene Toney and Howard Scott.

The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 until 9 and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Thursday to await the hour of service.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Stevens, 112 Hillcrest Drive, Union.
The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
