He was first married to Sophia Overstreet in Howard County, Missouri in 1882. They had two daughters, Hattie and Jessie. After her death he married a widow, Cordelia Nowels Childers.

Father of Mrs. Jessie Cook of Redding Dies At Gold Hill, Oregon

Medford, Or., Mar. 10 - William H. Childers of Gold Hill, where he has resided for the last thirty-five years, died at his home in that city Monday evening after an illness of more than five years.

Childers was born in Howard County, Missouri, February 16, 1856, and was aged 71 years, 21 days. he came west in 1890 and resided at Biggs, California, for two years before locating in Jackson county, Oregon, where he has since resided. Besides his widow, Cordelia Childers, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Cook of Redding, and Mrs. T.E. Scott of Marysville. Also three grandchildren.
